ACCESSIBILITY
Accessibility is very important to us at WOMAD Glasgow.
We are working with Nimbus Disability and use the Nimbus Access Card to simplify the process for requesting access to our facilities and companion tickets.
We’ve put together a list of frequently asked questions about accessible facilities at WOMAD Glasgow and how to apply for access. If you can’t find the information you’re looking for, please contact our accessibility team using the online form and we’ll be happy to help.
How to book an accessible ticket
Please see a step-by-step guide below on how to book Accessible tickets for 2026 below:
Step 1:
Buy your WOMAD Glasgow ticket here. Do not purchase a ticket for your essential companion. If your Access Card or WOMAD Festival Digital Access Pass indicates the essential companion requirement, we will automatically provide you with an essential companion ticket free of charge.
Step 2:
You will need an Access Card or WOMAD Festival Digital Access Pass – you can apply for these here.
How to apply for a Nimbus Card:
- Validate your access requirements with Nimbus by providing supporting documentation and information.
- Nimbus will assess your application.
- Once approved, you’ll be issued your Digital Access Pass (or an Access Card if you’ve upgraded).
If you already have an Access Card with Nimbus Disability you can skip to step 3.
Step 3:
Once you’ve received confirmation of your Digital Access Pass (or Access Card) from Nimbus, you can apply for accessible facilities via our accessibility form. Please note you must have your Nimbus Card or Digital Access Pass ID number ready – as you will need to input this on your application.
Step 4:
You will receive email confirmation of your approved facilities and/or tickets.
Your essential companion must be willing and able to perform all your requirements and must provide assistance to you during the unlikely event of an evacuation or other emergency.
Please note, if your child or teenager is disabled they will need to be accompanied by an adult over 21. Therefore, you will need to purchase an adult 1 or 2 day ticket to qualify for a free Essential Companion/Personal Assistant ticket.
If you have any questions, please direct these to womadglasgow@glasgowlife.org.uk
Facilities
Are there accessible toilets?
Yes. There are portable accessible toilets available throughout the festival and a Mobile Changing Places Toilet. You can request a wristband to access these facilities via the accessible application form.
Our stewards and staff recognise the use of Can’t Wait cards for anyone with urgent bladder or bowel conditions.
Medical
Can I bring medication?
Yes you can request an approval letter for medication via the Accessibility Form.
Wheelchair / Mobility Scooter Access
Is the event accessible for Wheelchairs & Mobility Scooters?
We are making every effort to ensure that the festival site is accessible to everyone. Kelvingrove Park has a lot of internal paths which are fully accessible however, there are areas that include steep slopes, large tree roots and grass with a range of elevations. It’s possible the ground may get muddy during wet weather and if this happens, we will lay alternative ground cover where possible to improve the access.
Please inform us if you plan to arrive with a wheelchair or mobility scooter.
Can I charge my wheelchair or mobility scooter?
Yes, there will be charging facilities available.
Please inform us if you are arriving with a wheelchair or mobility scooter via the Accessibility Form and we can advise location of the available plug in points at the event.
Are there viewing platforms?
Yes there will be a raised viewing platform and ground level viewing sections. If you need access to these areas, please let us know via your Nimbus Access Card and Accessibility Form.
Miscellaneous
Can I bring an assistance dog?
If you require the support of an assistance dog, please let us know via your Nimbus Access Card or WOMAD Digital Access Pass, and the Accessibility Form.
Will there be a BSL interpreter?
If you require the support of a BSL interpreter, please let us know via your Nimbus Access Card or WOMAD Digital Access Pass, and the Accessibility Form
I have broken my leg – can I access the viewing platform?
Our accessible facilities are prioritised for customers with long-term access requirements who hold a Nimbus Access Card. While we aim to be as inclusive as possible, capacity is limited and we may not be able to accommodate all temporary or short-term conditions.
If you have access requirements, we encourage you to contact us ahead of the event using the accessibility form so we can discuss individual needs and advise what support may be available.
I have another question, how do I get in touch?
If you have any accessibility requirements that are not met by using the existing facilities please do get in contact and let us know.
You can do this by filling in the Accessibility Form and telling us in the additional comments box or alternatively, email us at womadglasgow@glasgowlife.co.uk
Wherever possible we will do what we can to make your festival experience as enjoyable and accessible as possible.
